On Oct. 27, it’s 38 degrees as Holden Korish wades into the Middle Fork of the Willamette, hoping the fish are hungry at 7:30 in the morning.
Korish’s fly fishing skills were his grandpa’s doing. Korish now uses fly fishing as an escape from the stresses of being a college student.

Korish casts his line, looking for eddies in the current where the fish like to laze in the slower moving water.
Korish knows he’s had a bite when he sees his bobber dive down. That’s when he pulls back at a 45 degree angle, hooking the fish in the side of the mouth.

With cold hands, Korish reels in a young Cutthroat Trout and throws it back in to grow another couple pounds.
